About EDN: All About UsThe History of EDNA Forum for Entrepreneurs with Disabilities took place on October 6, 1995, at the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax in conjunction with the Access to Independence Exhibition. At the Forum, the Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Network Nova Scotia (EDN NS) was formed with an executive committed to raising the profile of Entrepreneurs with Disabilities, expanding the Network, advocating on behalf of its members and establishing the types of services and programs deemed important to the members of the organization. The Network's history can be traced to January 1994 when a number of individuals and organizations met for the first time under the auspices of Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC). The members of the group decided to discuss issues, develop strategies and initiate projects to promote the concept of entrepreneurship among persons with disabilities. One result of the committee's discussions was that in 1995, Ability Network Publishing Inc. undertook a number of initiatives in partnership with HRDC, ECBC, ACOA and the Nova Scotia Economic Renewal Agency. One initiative was to encourage entrepreneurship among persons with disabilities. This work included publishing a series of articles profiling entrepreneurs with disabilities in the magazine Ability Network. Another part of this initiative was to encourage the formation of a network for persons with disabilities. This led to the organization of a Forum for Entrepreneurs with Disabilities at Access to Independence where EDN was born. EDN Board of Directors 2002-2003Board of Directors
